Learning all about St Marina this morning 🐉🔨☦️

Breakfast is usually the time of day we do our saint study. I keep a cookbook stand on the table opened up to the saint of the day. We eat all our meals together at the kitchen table (a practice I am trying very hard to establish). We start with prayer before our meal and after I have eaten a little bit, I begin to read the story of the saint of the day from our My Synaxarion Series. This usually takes just a few short minutes, and since the children are eating, they are a captive audience! It’s the perfect time to set aside to read.

I love introducing my kids to the stories of the lives of the saints and the subsequent discussions that happen afterwards. It’s been a year since we last talked about her life and my girls didn’t remember her story. They were giggling at the end when they learned she beat up the devil with a hammer! They started acting it out what they would do if they were in her situation!

Even though her feast day was yesterday, we didn’t get a chance to learn about her, so we made up for it today. All that to say, it’s never too late to share these stories with your children. Even if you miss their feast day! Finding a few minutes a day to read even one short story will be of great benefit to your children (and even us as parents)!
