The Holy Mothers of the Three Hierarchs: St Nonna, St Emmelia and St Anthousa

January 26, 2021 by Destinie Winn in Motherhood

In honor of the Holy Three Hierarchs feast day, which is celebrated January 30th, I wanted to share a little about the women who formed these Holy Saints: their mothers. St Nonna, St Emmelia, and St Anthousa are a beautiful example of Christian motherhood. One can see the great virtue in their lives, especially through their children- the fruits of their labors and faith. As a mother, I find it inspiring that there are others who are striving to raise little Saints, and there are even some who have succeeded at this monumentous task! I wanted to share very briefly the mothers of St Gregory the Theologian, St Basil the Great, and St John Chrysostom.

Their feast day is the Sunday after the Presentation of our Lord and Savior and God (February 7th).
